Combatting seller impersonation fraud

Texas REALTORS® has been working closely with the Texas Land Title Association regarding a phenomenon known as “Seller Impersonation Fraud”. Criminals are posing as property owners wanting to list property in the MLS in order to go through a transaction and steal a buyer’s purchase money.

We will be bringing attention to this fraud and promoting best practices for detecting it through our regular communication channels as well as hosting a legal webinar later this summer.
